Back In It

What's good ya'll?

It has been quite some time since I have posted last. A lot of things have changed. Almost done with my undergraduate college experience in Oregon - it hasn't REALLY hit me yet. But, I give it about 2 months and when I start writing the results for my thesis study I'll be crying (kidding). There is too much to talk about to keep you updated on my life so I'll stick to a concerning issue that recently has been ameliorated.

What to do after graduation???

Well, I have a few options, three to be specific:

First, return home to Hawai'i upon graduating. Move back into my families house. Go to graduate school at either the University of Hawai'i or Hawai'i Pacific University for a masters in communication. I would take out a loan to get my OWN vehicle because living at home and sharing a car is tough and inefficient. I would have to find a part time job, and I am not sure where I could do that... Maybe I could work at Town and Country again? Probably not, but we'll see. It would be comfortable yet smothering.

Second, stay in Oregon to pursue work. I could potentially have a job in the University Relations department of Pacific University. It would be a very good job to achieve experience in a good field of managerial and administrative higher education. It pays well and would be cool to stick around in Oregon. I do enjoy Oregon very much so. I would also most likely help volunteer coach for the Pacific Forensics team. It would be comfortable yet productive because I would be gaining lots of quality work experience. It would disallow me from pursuing graduate school for a year or few. I would be very much gaining independence and it would be a good learning experience. However, the likelihood of me getting that job is diminishing greatly. Although, I do have potential job opportunities otherwise in Oregon.

Third, move to California to go to graduate school for a masters in communication at California State University Long Beach. This is likely my first choice because of the attractiveness of the benefits. If I were to pursue this option I would be taking graduate classes, teaching with a graduate assistantship and receiving a significant stipend, and coaching with a graduate assistantship the CSU LB forensics team (which would be sweet!). Additionally, my mom's sister lives in Long Beach and I would have family close by to help when I needed it. I also have another aunt that lives in West Lake Village. Going to school in California would allow me to get closer with my family in California. This opportunity would be the option that would provide the highest potential growth for me. This is true because I would be living alone, working, going to school, coaching, and being in a new state that I am unfamiliar with (although I would have family there). I am starting value this option significantly more than working in Oregon.

What do you all think?
