After 15 hours of total traveling, I had finally arrived in Portland Airport.
My initial flight out of Honolulu was approximately 2PM on Thursday afternoon. I boarded like usual saying my goodbyes via text messages. Just as I hermetically fluffed my pillow and shrugged my head back, the plane suddenly stopped mid take-off. I was startled and looked around. The Captain spoke on the speaker system to tell us there was a problem with the right engine of the plane. We spent a good 1.5 hours checking it out and seeing if it was not as serious of a malfunction as thought on the tarmac. Eventually we were sent back to the terminal and let back into the gate where we spent another 6.5 hours waiting for the repairs. I was given a $10 food voucher in an airport where meals cost about $12. Sweet. At about 8PM we re-boarded the once sully of a plane and slaked our travel anticipation.
I arrived in Seattle's airport around 4:30 AM. We were given new connecting flights because my original connecting flight was scheduled for 11PM local time. Go figure. I was given a $5 food voucher, which my frugality splurged at the sight of Qdoba breakfast burrito. I then boarded my connecting flight at 6AM and flew back to PDX. I got in at approximately 6:45. Got off the place and went to baggage claim. There were about four of us waiting for bags that had flown all the way from Honolulu. I waited and waited. And waited... Eventually my ride, Adrian, arrived and I told him the situation. I quickly went to the Horizon baggage office and discovered that my luggage had not made the correct connecting flight and I would not be taking it home at the moment.
Needless to say, I was pissed.
So, I put my lost baggage claim in and left. At about 12:30PM the same day I got a phone call from a very boor Mexican saying they had dropped off my luggage with Campus Public Security - the day was mine!
Today, I received notification from my mother that for my delayed flight and troubles, I was given a $200 flight voucher from Northwest Airlines. Thank the Lord, cause that's the ONLY way I'm flying with them again!!!
I would have died without my items of Volcom origin.
